Marvin Leffler Bio

Marvin Leffler is president emeritus of the Town Hall Foundation and served as the organization’s voluntary president for 35 years. In 1978, he formed a group that assumed responsibility for and operation of the Town Hall, which today is a National Historic Site and successful concert hall.

Under his leadership, the Town Hall experienced a revival as a performance venue. After the state of New York cut arts funding for schools, Mr. Leffler spearheaded the creation of the Educational Outreach Program, a Town Hall initiative that sent teaching artists to underserved New York City public schools. He also oversaw the creation of the Town Hall’s Annual Black History Month Celebration, which features prominent artists in African and African American performance traditions.

Prior to his role at Town Hall, Mr. Leffler served for many years as CEO and Chairman of the National Council of Sales Organizations. He is the author of two books, How to Become a Successful Manufacturer’s Representative and How to Increase Your Sales Volume as a Manufacturer’s Agent, as well as a recognized business leader and sought-after speaker on the topics of sales and manufacturing.

Mr. Leffler holds a BS and MBA from New York University. During his time at NYU, he served as editor for NYU Stern’s student newspaper The Commerce Bulletin—the only college newspaper in the country to publish a first-day story on the outbreak of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Mr. Leffler was a founding member and later a co-president of the NYU Alumni Association (NYUAA) and has contributed decades of service as a member of the NYUAA Board of Directors. Additionally, he has held membership on six different NYUAA committees and chaired two of those committees. Mr. Leffler currently serves as an NYU Trustee Associate, is an active member of the University Founder’s Society and the Society of the Torch, and has been a generous donor to multiple NYU school initiatives.
