Joseph Landolina Bio
Joe Landolina [he/him] is the co-founder and CEO of Cresilon, Inc., a leading biotech firm based in Brooklyn, New York. Since its founding in 2010, Cresilon has been at the forefront of biosurgery, developing and commercializing a plant-based hemostatic gel that stops traumatic and surgical bleeding in seconds without manual pressure.
Growing up working in the lab of his grandfather's winery, Joe invented Cresilon's platform technology at the age of 17. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering and a master's degree in biomedical engineering from New York University's Tandon School of Engineering. Joe is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, a TED Fellow and speaker, a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar, and was honored at the White House by President Obama during his inaugural “Demo Day.”
Under Joe's leadership, Cresilon launched VETIGEL®, a groundbreaking hemostatic gel for veterinary surgery, which has now been used in more than 45,000 procedures across North America, Europe, and Asia. Cresilon recently received FDA clearance for human use of its gel technology and has entered into a cooperative research agreement with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research to explore potential treatments for penetrating ballistic brain injury. With more than $100 million in venture funding and over 65 employees, Joe continues to drive Cresilon's commitment to saving lives as the company expands globally.
As Cresilon recently received its first FDA 510(k) clearance for the hemostatic gel technology in human use, the gel is also being evaluated by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research—the largest biomedical research facility administered by the U.S. Department of Defense—to advance the development of medical technologies used for treating traumatic brain injuries, particularly those sustained by soldiers on the battlefield.
A native New Yorker, Joe resides in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and German Shepherd. He serves on the Young Leadership Council of the Brooklyn Museum and on the board of Entrepreneur Lab NYC.
