Heather Cannady Bio
Since graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history and politics, Cannady has continued to be an actively and extensively involved member of the NYU community. She served as a vice president on the NYU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, is a member of the College of Arts and Science Alumni Association Board, and is a young alumni trustee on the NYU Board of Trustees.
Following her time at NYU, Cannady went on to earn her JD at Harvard University Law School. At Harvard, she provided legal services to low-income defendants through her participation in Harvard Defenders; was a member of Stop DV, Harvard's Domestic Violence Awareness organization; and organized a conference on the state of women's services in post-Katrina New Orleans. She also served as external vice president of Harvard's Black Law Students Association and organized an Africa Summit to visit the countries of Ethiopia and Tanzania. While at Harvard, Cannady also toured the US working on civil rights issues and filed a brief petitioning the Supreme Court to hear a case on behalf of the 1921 Tulsa race riots.
