There is no longer any controversy in the assertion of China's status as an economic juggernaut. However, there are a variety of perspectives on how China reached this status, and there is a good deal of misunderstanding surrounding the issue. Join NYU Professor Doug Guthrie as he untangles the cultural, political and social processes that have led to China's successful reform and find out what some of the implications of China's success are for both global and American politics.

Doug Guthrie is Professor of Management and Daniel P. Paduano Faculty Fellow at the Stern School of Business of New York University. He is also Faculty Director for Executive Education and the NYU Academic Director of the TRIUM Global EMBA, and holds an appointment as Professor of Sociology at NYU's Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Professor Guthrie's areas of expertise include management, leadership, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and economic reform in China. He is the author of numerous books, including the acclaimed Dragon in a Three-Piece Suit: The Emergence of Capitalism in China.
